Ann Hale-Smith has practiced labor and employment law in Atlanta since her admission to the bar in 1980. She developed her interest in the labor and employment field during law school, when she was selected to serve as the law clerk for Member Howard Jenkins of the National Labor Relations Board in Washington, D.C. Throughout her career, she has represented and counseled management in a wide range of labor and employment matters, including representation campaigns and elections, unfair labor practice liability and compliance proceedings, EEOC and other fair employment practices investigations, employment discrimination and civil rights litigation, wage-hour compliance investigations and litigation, affirmative action compliance for government contractors, collective bargaining and contract administration, arbitrations and mediations, appellate proceedings in the state and federal courts, and preventive personnel practices.
Ann has represented employers in virtually every industry including manufacturing, construction, healthcare, mining, insurance, retail and government. She has done a great deal of public speaking on employment-related topics before business and trade associations. She has also been retained on a number of occasions by other attorneys to utilize her expertise in making independent, objective assessments of the legal ramifications of various workplace scenarios in anticipation of litigation.
