Sandy Kaye Bowen has practiced law in Atlanta since 1982. She has developed particular expertise in the areas of employment law and litigation, having represented international, national and local clients in hundreds of employment, contract and tort cases.
Sandy devotes a significant amount of her time to the ever-evolving area of non-competition and restrictive covenant issues, including litigation of claims. She regularly analyzes, drafts and crafts optimum strategy regarding non-competes. Sandy is well suited to handling restrictive covenant and non-competition matters based on her knowledge of the law and keeping abreast of developments in this area, as well as her extensive litigation experience.
Sandy’s practice extends well beyond non-competition issues. Sandy assists clients with family and medical leave, disability, wage and hour, and other compensation and benefits issues; employment discrimination, harassment, and retaliation matters; employee agreements; evaluation, discipline and termination of employees; the development of employee handbooks and personnel policies and procedures; plant closings; and other employment-related and litigation matters. Sandy’s practical day-to-day advice has enabled clients to avoid litigation and other disputes.
When disputes could not be avoided, Sandy has been successful in various forums, including federal and state trial and appellate courts; proceedings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the United States Department of Labor; and in mediations and arbitrations. Sandy has been asked to participate in employment law seminars on diverse topics such as the Americans With Disabilities Act, retaliation, hiring, mental health and emotional issues in the workplace, protecting business interests, leaves of absence, and avoidance of claims.
